NCFI Residential and Commercial SPF Insulations Earn First ICC Approval

Approval is first based on latest 2012 building codes.

NCFI InsulBloc closed-cell spray foam insulation.A new International Code Council (ICC) Evaluation Service report from the body responsible for evaluating product compliance with codes and standards used to construct residential and commercial buildings, gives the first (and only) approval for SPF insulations based on 2012 building codes to InsulStar (residential) and InsulBloc (commercial), two of the industry's most popular closed-cell spray foam insulations by U.S. company, NCFI Polyurethanes.

The report, ESR-1615, for InsulStar and InsulBloc does the following:

  1. Approves both insulations for use as a vapor retarders, air barriers, and as air-impermeable insulations
  2. Includes evaluation of DC-315 as an alternative thermal barrier coating
  3. Recognizes use of both insulations as water-resistive barriers
  4. Recognizes InsulBloc for all building types (I, II, III, IV and V under IBC) and InsulStar for all dwellings under the IRC

ICC-ES evaluates building products for compliance with building and construction code. ICC-ES does technical evaluations of building products, components, methods, and materials. The evaluation process culminates with the issuance of reports on code compliance and design/construction alternatives which are available free of charge to code officials, contractors, specifiers, architects, engineers, and anyone else with an interest in the building industry and construction. ESRs provide evidence that products and systems meet code requirements.
