Rockler stores offer wooden bow tie "Make and Take" classes June 9th
Free class is a gift making opportunity for Father's Day.
Come on, you know you want one. Rockler Woodworking and Hardware stores nationwide will be hosting "Make and Take" classes on Saturday, June 9th in which participants can learn new woodworking skills while handcrafting a wooden bow tie – a new twist on a classic Father's Day gift idea.
The class is free of charge, and will be offered at four times throughout the day, with start times of 9:30 and 11:30 am as well as 1:30 and 3:30 pm. Techniques used during the class include work on the scroll saw or band saw, as well as hand sanding and finishing with tung oil. Cherry and walnut wood will be used to construct the bow ties, featuring inlay bandings and a velvet neck strap. Each participant will leave with a completed bow tie.
"With Father's Day fast approaching, we thought this would be a fun way for beginners to get into woodworking while making a gift for dad," said Scott Ekman, Rockler's vice president of marketing. "This class is a unique opportunity to learn basic techniques, get some hands-on experience and meet other people interested in woodworking. By the time the class is over, each attendee will have made a snappy wooden bow tie to show off."
All Rockler stores will offer the Wood Bow Tie "Make and Take" classes. Class size will be limited to eight participants per session, so lots of one-on-one help will be available. Attendees under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult. The class will last approximately 45 to 60 minutes.
