EPA publishes new formaldehyde compliance dates

New compliance date for emission standards, recordkeeping and labeling is June 1, 2018.

The Environmental Protection Agency has set the new compliance dates for its formaldehyde emissions rule for composite wood products by publishing a notice in the Federal Register.

The dates were set last month when the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California approved an agreement among environmental groups, EPA, and NAHB and other industry groups.

The new compliance date for the emission standards, recordkeeping, and labeling is June 1, 2018. Manufacturers, importers, fabricators and retailers that are already regulated by California’s formaldehyde regulation have until March 22, 2019 to come into compliance with EPA’s formaldehyde rule.
