U.S. adds 211,000 jobs in April

Construction adds 5,000 jobs as unemployment rate falls to 4.4 percent. 


Nonfarm payrolls increased by 211,000 in April, above economists' average expectations, according to today's data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The construction sector gained 5,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate decreased from 4.5% to 4.4% -- the lowest in 10 years -- while revisions to February and March numbers led to a decrease of 6,000 jobs from earlier reports.
