Program connects international buyers with U.S. companies.

U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Stefan M. Selig today announced the slate of 23 trade shows selected for the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) 2016 International Buyer Program (IBP). The IBP is a government-industry program designed to increase U.S. export sales through promotion and recruitment of international participation at major U.S. industry trade shows.

“With 96 percent of the world’s customers living outside the United States, it’s imperative to provide opportunities for U.S. firms of all sizes to engage with potential partners from around the globe,” said Selig, “The IBP recruits foreign companies to attend U.S. trade shows in a variety of industry sectors and connects them with U.S. firms that offer the world-class products, technologies, and services that fit their customers’ needs. IBP’s help increase sales for U.S. companies therefore, growing their bottom line and creating jobs here at home.”

“Last year, the IBP brought more than 13,500 foreign buyers to 34 U.S. trade shows which resulted in more than $600 million in international sales for U.S. companies,” said Marcus Jadotte, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis. “Industry and trade experts across ITA support these events with robust data analysis to identify top markets for U.S. products and services, and assist U.S. companies with entering into those markets.”
