A.W. Meyer Company is pleased to announce the promotion of James Kelly to the position of Chief Operating Officer & Executive Vice President. In his new capacity, Kelly will have operational oversight of all aspects of the business, including Sales, Vendor Partnership Engagements, Receivables & Payables, Warehouse, Employee Relations etc.

Owners Jim and Cathie Hascup will continue oversight in their same capacities of the business, with Kelly in his expanded role.

In his 35 years with A.W. Meyer Company, Kelly has made an impact on numerous aspects of the business, beginning his career in 1979 working in the warehouse. Kelly then transitioned into the role of counterman in the original storefront, then moving into inside sales where he proved his knack for developing vendor and prospect relationships.

His success and proven track record in these capacities positioned him for his next roles within the company as an outside sales representative and eventually Vice President.

Notable achievements during this time include designing and implementing the company’s computer system, automating a previously manual process. In addition, Kelly played an integral part of the development of A.W. Meyer’s Retail & Paint Stores as they exist today.

“A.W. Meyer continues to prove its reputation as a point player in the construction trade industry,” said Kelly. “In my new capacity, I have even more confidence that we can take this business to the next level, continuing to meet and exceed the demands of construction projects in the tri-state area.”

“It is difficult to remember when A.W. Meyer has not been a part of our lives. My father preceded me in the company, and I have been here for more than 50 years, my wife Cathie, more than 30 years. We are both still very active and involved in the daily routine of A.W. Meyer. In that time, the company has evolved from the ‘corner hardware store’ to the establishment we have today,” said Hascup.

“We have worked alongside of Jim Kelly for 35 years and have watched him grow from a stock clerk to his current capacity. As a young salesman, I saw so much potential and enjoyed being his mentor. Cathie found the same proficiency when they were implementing the A.W. Meyer computer system. We are pleased and excited to take this next step, and know that Jim Kelly is the perfect choice to continue and exceed our life’s dream.”
