Fastenal Names New President

Leland J. Hein Jr. replaces Will Oberton, who will remain CEO.


Fastenal has elected Leland J. Hein Jr. as president of the company.In documents filed with the Securites and Exchange Commission, Fastenal announced that it elected Leland J. Hein Jr. as president of the company.

The 51-year-old Hein will "replace and be mentored by Willard D. Oberton, who will continue to serve as chief executive officer of the company."

Hein originally joined Fastenal in 1985 and has held various sales and managerial roles, serving as a general manager, district manager, regional vice president and, most recently, executive vice president of sales, a position he held from November 2007 until his appointment as president. In his most recent role, Hein’s responsibilities included sales and operational oversight for the western region.

In addition to naming Hein president, Fastenal elected Nicholas J. Lundquist to serve as executive vice president of operations. Lundquist will be serving with James C. Jansen, who holds the same title, in various expanding areas of operations. Lundquist originally joined the company in 1979 and has held various positions in the sales and operations functions of the company. He most recently held the position of executive vice president of sales.

Kenneth R. Nance was elected to serve as executive vice president of sales for the eastern region of the company to replace Lundquist. Nance joined Fastenal in 1992 and has held various sales and managerial roles in the United States and in the company’s international operations. He most recently held the position of regional vice president.

Gary A. Polipnick was elected to serve as executive vice president of sales for the western region of the company to replace Hein. Polipnick joined the company in 1983 and has held various sales and managerial roles in the midwest region. He most recently held the position of regional vice president.
